Valley Christian High School vs Scottsdale Christian Academy
1st: 5 2
2nd: 4 14
3rd 10 6
4th 19 9
The Lady Trojans pulled off a “could-be” season changing victory over their oldest and strongest basketball rivals, Scottsdale Christian Academy, taking their record to 13-5. The Eagles came into the game poised and ready to take down the Trojans behind the sharp shooting, savvy senior guard, Kylie Hearn. But the Trojans were all to ready and prepared for the Lady Eagles as they played a box-in-one the entire game. Chloe Fraley was assigned the duty to track down, chase, and defend Hearn’s the entire game, due to her incredible athleticism. She held the phenom to zero points in the 1st quarter and only 12 total points for the game. This strategy frustrated the entire Eagles flight plan in not allowing Hearn’s and the rest of the Lady Eagles to swoop down and pick the Lady Trojans apart.
The game was hard fought by both competitors, each taking their opponents best shot. But it was the 4th quarter that was the deciding factor for the Lady Trojans, as they began to separate themselves from the Lady Eagles. Senior guard Maddie Shapiro poured in 7 of her 9 points, junior forward Jada Pourier dropped 7 of her 15 points, and senior guard Chloe Fraley completed the 4th quarter run adding 5 of her 13 points to finish of the Lady Eagles.
After the game, the Lady Trojans spoke of how their big win was truly a team effort, celebrating each others hard work and tenacity. The Lady Trojans plan to build upon this win, taking it into their next game against Odyssey Institute at home on Tuesday.
