Megan Timmer ’17 named AIA Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Valley Christian senior Megan Timmer ’17 was presented with the AIA’s Scholar-Athlete Girl of the Year award at the Champions Luncheon on Monday, May 15 at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Megan competed in both basketball and volleyball at Valley Christian over her four year high school career. She also served as the manager for beach volleyball this season. She has accepted an athletic and academic scholarship to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott to continue her education and basketball career.

Megan becomes Valley Christian’s fourth award winner and fifth finalist in the 15 years the AIA has presented Scholar-Athlete and Scholar-Activity awards. Julie-Anne Bailey ’04 was named the Scholar-Athlete in 2004 and Alyssa Braun ’15 earned the award in 2015. Megan Gjersvig ’05 was presented with the Scholar-Activity award in 2005. Gavin deFisser ’15 was a finalist for the Scholar-Athlete award in 2015.
